In light of COVID-19, both the History of Science Society (HSS) and Philosophy of Society Association (PSA) are considering their options for digital meetings in 2020. But, McDonnell Initiative panels have been accepted for what would have been the programs at each conference. For HSS, Neuron Working Group co-leader, Kathryn Maxson Jones, organized the panel, “Regeneration as a Boundary Concept: Dialogues between Basic and Applied Biology in the Long Twentieth Century.” McDonnell co-PI Jane Maienschein will moderate, and Working Group co-leaders Kathryn Maxson Jones, Kate MacCord (Germ Line), and Frederick Davis (Ecosystems) will present papers. For PSA, McDonnell Initiative members will present a cognate session for the International Society for the History, Philosophy, and Social Studies of Biology (ISHPSSB), entitled “Regeneration Across Living Systems.” MacCord and Maienschein will present papers, as will Microbes Regeneration Working Group co-leader Andrew Inkpen, Stem Cell Regeneration Working Group co-leader Lucie Laplane, and Ph.D. Researcher in Sociology at the University of Exeter, Elis Jones. The 2020 HSS Annual Meeting was originally planned for October 7-11, 2020 in New Orleans, LA. The 2020 PSA annual meeting was planned for November 19-22, 2020 in Baltimore, MD.
