From May 19th through 24th, 2022, the leaders of the McDonnell Initiative again amassed along with historians, philosophers, and scientists to focus on regeneration. Over the course of five days of discussions, the working groups discussed updated views of how regeneration works in systems across the scales of life and continued to move forward with their contributions University of Chicago book series.
This time, participants got inside views into regeneration with live demonstrations of lamprey regeneration, courtesy of the Morgan lab. A particularly excitable octopus captivated the group as Pamela Imperadore (of the neuron regeneration working group) demonstrated the biology of cephalopods.
