We are excited to announce the full publication of our special Research Topic in Frontiers in Cell and Developmental Biology, “Regeneration from Cells to Limbs: Past, Present, and Future.” This collection of over 28 articles published over two years represents the work of over 100 authors, all focused on different aspects of regeneration from cells to complex structures in numerous organisms from protists to mammals. Led by the McDonnell Neuron Regeneration Working Group, the Research Topic features interdisciplinary perspectives on regeneration from HPS scholars and biologists. It also includes the work of Initiative co-PIs Kate MacCord and Jane Maienschein and former President and CEO of JSMF, Susan Fitzpatrick. Support from the McDonnell Initiative helped make the entire Research Topic open access!
